Recipe: Caffeine- Free Chai Latte

August 12, 2018

Earlier this week I write a blog about sleep! Read it here.

It discussed how Lack of sleep affects just about everything in your body and mind (argh!).

The article looked at the 3 main purposes of sleep, and provided some very helpful tips on how to improve your sleep. Seriously take a read it is well worth it! Click here to read the full article. :)

One of the tips included cutting off your caffeine and added sugar intake after 12pm. Please note, this isn't what you should  do rather a strategy that may work for you. Each person is different and this strategy is definitely worth a try if your beloved sleep is eluding you.

Whole foods like fruits and veggies are fine, it's the “added” sugar we're minimising. Both caffeine and added sugar can keep your mind a bit more active than you want it to be come evening, and that is why I have for you a great caffeine-free chai latte recipe for you! Because I know how precious those delicious sips of coffee are (really I do)!

So here it is,  your Caffeine-free latte for your afternoon “coffee break”

Recipe: Caffeine-Free Chai Latte

Serves 1-2 (adjust water to suit you - I sometimes add a little milk at the end)

1 bag of rooibos chai tea (rooibos is naturally caffeine-free)

2 cups of boiling water

1 tablespoon tahini

1 tablespoon almond butter (creamy is preferred)

2 dates (optional) (I love the natural sweetness the dates provide)

Cover the teabag and dates (if using) with 2 cups of boiling water and steep for a few minutes.

Discard the tea bag & place tea, soaked dates, tahini & almond butter into a blender.

Blend until creamy.

Serve and Enjoy!

Tip:  You can try this with other nut or seed butters to see which flavour combination you like the best.  Cashew butter anyone?

Happy sleeping! x x
